SG National Day, Cutover: Five for Friday

Friday of August 21, 2020

Uneventful week, a busy week with work. Project cutover and busy at work.

SG National Day

Singapore National Day celebration in PCF...

This year's national day is abit different due to covid-19. There will be no parade and there will be less event gatherings. This is quite understandable because getting the crowds go in during national day is a recipe for a pandemic disaster.

Pasir Ris Park, JS13k, Tinnitus: Five for Friday

Friday of August 14, 2020

Went to Pasir Ris Park on the weekend. It was fun going out with the kids, Joyce and Jace enjoyed playing in the park and running around. This week also is the beginning of the JS13k contest.

Pasir Ris Park

Our family visited Pasir Ris Park for the first time...

Round in park due to covid. It was a fun place quite near sengkang area. The place is quite crowded since more people tend to go to open places.

JS13k 2020 - 404 Error

A strange theme this year would be 404 error...

Planning to join the Js13k if the schedule is not tight this year.

TED: What’s that ringing in your ears. Tinnitus.

Understanding one's body and mind is the key for resolving fear and doubts...

Tinnitus has been bothering humanity since Ancient Babylon, plaguing everyone from Leonardo da Vinci to Charles Darwin. Today, roughly one in seven people worldwide experiences this auditory sensation. So what exactly is tinnitus, and where does this persistent sound come from? Marc Fagelson travels into the auditory system to explore the loss of silence.

Bicycle, AIA, Curved Monitor, ESLR Learning, Favicon Converter: Five for Friday

Friday of August 07, 2020

It was a long weekend so basically friday was a holiday (Eid al-Adha - Hari Raya Haji). I have completed most of our chores during this holiday specially the dry cleaning of the sofa. Saturday we drop around the block for Joyce to use her Bicycle and Jace to play in the park. Sunday was a rest day, woke up late and cooked Kare-Kare. Monday I got a call from AIA for a placeholder application and other pre-processing stuff. We also got the our 32 inch Samsung monitor this week. I am also trying to push my JJekyll like Java implementation. Joyce had her first remote schooling via school, and it was terrible. Auto generation of favicon favicon and converter.

Bicycle weekend

Riding a bicycle around Compass One...

Balance is very important for kids, getting to ride the bicycle and learning it is I think is part of growing up. Normally kids will remember the time they spent with their parents learning things. Key skills and traits are important in being part of your kids life. I try my best to instill key values during this age, I believe I should do more for Joyce and much more for Jace.

Interview in AIA

Techlead interview for AIA...

The first time I tried going in to AIA I reached to the offering stage. They offered a considerable amount of salary but during that time, the amount is quite far from my target asking so I declined. The this second time to avoid wasted effort in the interviews, I clearly stated my reasonable targets but it seems the opening role is incompatible with my job scope.

Doing interviews myself there are a few factors that is worth checking. job compatibility, technical experience compatibility, asking salary, communication and character. Once or twice a year trying out interviews are quite fun and engaging.

Samsung Curved Monitor

Bought a new monitor to be used in the kids room...

My old 24 inch Samsung monitor still serves me for like 10 years already. It still works fine and as intended, currently it is my work monitor. This new curved monitor went out for sale in qoo10 and since we seem to need another one in the study / kids room, we just dropped the cash and bought it. This 32 inch curved monitor, we got it around $290. The price is a steal since most of the items should be around twice of that price.

Joyce Studies

PCF in the morning and ESLR in the afternoon...

Joyce attend PCF classes in the morning and online classes in the Philippines in the afternoon. If im not working from home this setup will be imposible for us. Hopefully we can still do this work from home setup until end of this year. Joyce will graduate in PCF by mid November and during that time we can focus more on ESLR studies.

Favicon Converter

Creating a simple favicon is important in any website...

Lack creativity, plain lazy or just wants anything to occupy this image so that browser will not throw 404 upon hitting its request. https://favicon.io/

Space Time: Can Viruses Travel Between Plan ets?

Alot of conspiracy theory going around about that COVID=19 came from outerspace this video is why it is probably false...

With the global pandemic of Covid 19 still encompassing the world, we are generally not big fans of viruses right now. But we sure are thinking about them a lot. That’s right, even astrophysicists are pondering these bizarre little critters. In fact, astrovirology, although very new, is actually an emerging subfield of astrobiology. And that’s because it turns out viruses don’t just influence organisms - they’re incredibly important on a planetary scale. Perhaps an interplanetary scale.

Joyce Back to School, Weekend Walk, Last Day, Japchae, Business Idea: Five for Friday

Friday of July 31, 2020

After a week of break Joyce is coming back to school. We had an awsome weekend walking by the neighborhood and the nearby park. This week is Chixiongs last week in NCS, due to COVID we can't give him a proper farewell party. This packed Japchae is awesome, it tasted like it was made from a korean restaurant. We bought a minimalist logitech keyboard for Joyce' home schooling. Developing and pursuing your business idea, crash course.

Joyce Back to School

Joyce is back to school after a week of vacation...

Joyce chinese school work photo. It is about the story from his homework. Photo in the lift first monday of school after vacation. Joyce is still sleepy while going down the lift.

Weekend walk

Just walked around the block and near the river area...

Last Week of Chixiong

He have been working on the project for 5 years but moving on...

This is the last week of Chixiong in NCS, based from his linkend account he will be moving to shopee. We wish the best things for him specially for his future prospects.

Trying out Redmart Products, Japchae

We love Japchae in korean restaurants...

We bought this ready made Japchae from redmart, and the quality is really superb. We just need to add a couple more noodles to increase it's set. In general one pack's favoring is enough to be shared to at most 2 people.

New Keyboard, Logitech MK240 Nano

Bough a new keyboard and mouse combination...

There are alot of cheaper alternative that is like $5 lesser that the logitech brand. These knockoffs are definitly not worth it compared to the low end products of logitech. To a certain degree the cheaper logitech version have better plastic and feel to it compared to the OEM counterpart.

Serious Joyce

Joyce serious photo for ESLR...

Joyce photo mug shot. We need to get a quick profile picture for school. We are still trying to cope up with school activity and homework.
