Bye 2017, Hi 2018. What was finished, missed and learned from 2017, and the new goals for 2018.
I'll start off with my family it is my first reason for doing my second activity which is work. This year was a health year for our family 'Thank God' no one got sick and our finances was stable in terms of health care. There we some colds and fevers but overall recovery was fast. Kat and I visibly gained weight this year, by the numbers and pictures. Frequently eating in restaurants have been a hobby this year, specially the Korean Buffets. Stress was visible in the tents due to turnovers, but at least by the end of the year we got the best ones. Joyce started doing playgroup and it was a big tiring challenge for Kat since the school is 400m away, and Jace will be left in the house during the time Joyce is brought to and fetched from school. We let her do the playgroup for 7 months, and after her birthday month we just called it off since it is really tiring. We had a Change Hotel Staycation, went back to Manila for kids check-up, tried the beach in the south, Jace got his first glasses, Joyce birthday in school, Singtel family day in Gardens by the Bay, Jace-Kat-and-I renewed our passports, enjoyed Science Park and Snow City, Christmas Wonderland and a few renewals. Other minor details not mentioned but as I reviewed photos on my phone it was an eventful year. Definity 2017 is a year we would remember with our kids.
So the second stuff is my work the bulk of my life everyday, usually I just do a glimps and snips of it since most of it should not be shared. The start of the year was slow and usual since I am already familiar with the process and system. Mid year is where things got complicated, so I started doing other stuffs and learned alot about Selenium and Oracle SOA and BPM. I developed a simple tool to easily configure, build and manage selenium test cases, it is really quite helpful for browser testing. The tool I developed will definitely be helpful for me in the future. The other focus was Oracle BPM which is a love and hate relationship, studying the tool is a pain and running in on the SOA environment on my pitiful laptop is a sad thing. Hopefully it can add to my CV and expertise even though I am not certified to it.
Ok the year started with me having fever and my daughter is still adjusting in first week in Nursery[href="singapore starts school at January"]. My fever/flu lasted for two weeks, it was quite bad for the start of the year.
What are the things I wanted to finish last year. The sites that I was not able to finish or improve. I have always wish certains sites to grow on it self like a plant, but sadly it doesn't work like that. Unless it is a forum site of sorts.
- Kosilog, create a Filipino webtoon comics platform
- Pinoypixel, Web Games: Add more games.
- Jyoru, Web Games: Less focused.
- Godstwilight. Build a basic core RPG framework on board.
- Forkge. Create a basic forging game onboard.
- Katture, Update design.
More about Kosilog, it will change to a webtoon application. After aiming for Kosilog to be an open world game novel, which was too ambitious that I wasn't able to follow through the development. Kosilog will start with gradual updates and rollout starting basic comic narration and popup. Initially I wanted to create in inside an HTML5 canvas, but it seems doing so will actually add more work for me. The initial approach will still use the traditional CSS/HTML dom display. Kosilog will aim for asset sharing and reusability, it will curate open assets which include characters, background and items.
